HHWG hosted a Journey in Physics Seminar presented by UW Professor Michael Chapko

Our Physics Division hosted a Journey in Physics Seminar presented by UW Professor Michael Chapko on March 22, 2026. Branch members Yufei Ye and Anthony Cao volunteered as co‑hosts for the event. The seminar lasted from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

In the seminar, guest speaker Michael Chapko explained his education, research, and reasoning for the aforementioned topics. The seminar covered his choice for physics and switch to psychology, as well as how he used his physics and math knowledge on his research on a variety of topics, including epidemiology and psychology of crowds. The participants and host/cohost asked questions about his experiences of studying physics and changing a major, and what he would recommend to students who are interested in either field.
